The campaign, which is coordinated by the Emergency Planning College, aims to inspire and empower people to be ready and better prepared for a wide range of risks and their consequences such as flooding, fire, power cuts, and severe weather.

Throughout September, weekly and daily preparedness themes will be shared on social media through the hashtag #30days30waysUK linking to information and trusted resources by local Resilience partners such as the emergency services, local authorities, health, utilities, the voluntary sector and others.

The campaign uses a combination of fun, evidence-based activities, positive psychology, and gamification to build everyday resilience, encouraging residents across the UK to think about simple steps to “be prepared not scared” by:

  • being informed through community risk registers and signing up for warnings

  • connecting to and sharing national and local advice and resource

  • tuning into weekly podcasts and subscribing to playlists

  • completing the national Household Preparedness Survey

  • inspiring personal and collective action to build capacities for better individual and community preparedness and resilience.

To follow along and get involved, people can simply search for the hashtag #30days30waysUK or check out the website at www.30days30ways.com.

Joanne Maddams, founder of the campaign, said: “In today’s ever-changing world, being prepared has never been more important. September is Preparedness Month, and it’s the perfect time to take simple, practical steps to boost your personal and community resilience.

We’re excited to invite you to join us for 30Days30WaysUK, a month-long campaign packed with daily tips, inspiring stories, and amazing resources from organisations across the UK.

Whether it’s looking out for your family, checking in on a neighbour, or learning something new, every small action makes a difference. Preparedness isn’t about fear – it’s about feeling confident and capable. It’s about building a culture of resilience, one positive step at a time.

Let’s work together this September to stay informed, stay safe, and stay connected.”
